Micro QR Codes vs Standard QR Codes: When Size is Constrained
When physical space is severely limited, standard QR codes may be too large. Micro QR codes were developed specifically for micro-manufacturing and tight spaces.
Key Differences
- Single Finder Pattern: Micro QR codes have only one corner finder square in the top-left, requiring far less margin space.
- Data Capacity: Encodes up to 35 numeric or 21 alphanumeric characters (ideal for short serial numbers and model IDs).
- Minimum Size: Can be printed as small as 11 × 11 modules (compared to 21 × 21 modules for Version 1 standard QR).
